West Woods Trail Map

West woods park hiking pioneer bridle trail is open to horseback riders and hikers, making a large loop west of the nature center. It contains a wide diversity of fascinating natural formations such as cave structures, water falls, salt and fresh water marshes, inland tidal lake, carved rock sculptures and rock formations. Walkers can also enjoy various waymarked trails and an easy access route.

On the green blazed trail near the west section of the woods is an old leatherman cave that he used to use monthly on his 350 mile loop he used to walk in the 1880s.

The main feature of the trail is the spectacular sandstone formation known as ansel's cave. Ropes & boats in 2022! This is the most popular trail in the park. A short walk from either parking lot brings you to a picnic area with tables and drinking water.
